The aim of this road-doc-movie is to highlight the metamorphoses that have characterized the phase of transition between the past of hegemonies and ideologies and the present rich in signs and technologies. This project resolutely aspires to explore the traces of the tradition in their naturalness and reticence, while they clash with the arrogant modernity.
The deformity of the faces, of the customs and of the natural surroundings is an engine which will nourish our will to acquire and deepen our knowledge through this journey. This assumption will allow us to reconcile in a single container, given by the river, the identities and the particularities that only with great difficulty could be placed side by side and be contemplated as a unit. Therefore, it will be fundamental to reveal the affinities and the contrasts which concern these peoples, from west to east, seen in relation with their mutual appurtenance to the new European family of nations.
By adopting the singular (but at the same time multifaceted) perspective of the Danube, we aim to assume the distinctive view of its character: imperceptible, unconditional and evanescent, but yet always present and prestigious. Therefore, the Danube shall become an unambiguous elusive guide. It will dazzle us and lead us all the way through the memories and through the wonders of those places.
